Cash Grants For Free

With a high number of news stories nowadays concentrating on the the problems of the elderly and their pensions are insufficient to cover the rise in the cost of living, governments in a number of countries are now acting to help, with the start of free cash grants. These packages providing financial aid can be a big help for elderly citizens, giving them the freedom and independence to pay utility bills of any kind and still live on their own property.

One of these incentives that was placed is the Senior Citizen Rent Increase Exemption, or SCRIE. It is a guarantee that a rent any old-age pensioner pays won't be increased, by changing the normal increases that may accrue. Howbeit, you can only obtain this free cash grant if you are at least 62 years of age and not have an income going over $20,000. You must be the person in charge of the home in question as well, and pay at minimum one third of the rent. The grant, If you are successful, must be applied for every other year.

One other program that aids with household costs, especially heating costs, is the Home Energy Assistance Program, or HEAP. This is targeted much more at families who have lower incomes than other free cash grant set-ups of the same kind, and also has an age limit that is lower: you only need to be 60 years old or above to qualify. Although these grants are on a first come / first served basis, they can give help in such hard areas as your water supply or other utility being shut off through lack of payment. An emergency loan is also available for this type of problem through the Emergency Assistance for Adults, or EAA. As Well as aiding to prevent power being cut from your dwelling, grants such as these can aid with normal household repairs as well.

If you live in New York, another type of free cash grant that you can apply for exists. It is for the amount of $375 toward the payment of your previous year's rent or property taxes . However, on top of being a resident of New York, there are many other guidelines that you must be within to qualify - you have to have been in the same dwelling for at least 6 months; your mean monthly earning must be lower than $450; you cannot depend on someone else's tax forms; and the value of your property must be less than $85,000. Even though this is a particularly difficult qualification process to meet, it will ensure that the people that need it most are the ones that will benefit from the cash, regardless of how little the amount of money.
